The Stoughton Trailers Corporate Headquarters sits within an 80-acre restored prairie, with a stormwater pond shaping the building's northeast corner. Two linear wings extend from a central glazed atrium, giving every workspace a view of the prairie and keeping the entry sequence simple and open to the landscape. The floor plan follows the way Stoughton actually works—organizing departments around the company's real workflow, from decision-making to production, so teams sit near the people and processes they depend on. The material palette comes straight from the client's own products: the lobby stair is built from an actual trailer chassis, landing gear, and wood decking, and similar trailer components appear throughout the building as structural and finish elements. Site and building systems work together to support this approach, with the restored prairie supporting local ecology, and daylighting, shading, and EV infrastructure keeping operational impact low. Overall, the building is a physical representation of the organization, translating not only the company's mission and values, but also their engineering and process, into the architecture itself.
