Join AIA SW Wisconsin and Phius Alliance Wisconsin as we tour 252 Dunning to learn about Passive House design.

Located on the former site of Zion Lutheran Church and developed by the Threshold Development Group, 252 Dunning is a 32-unit urban infill apartment building situated in the heart of the Atwood neighborhood and is on track to be the first Phius Certified market-rate multifamily building in Madison. Passive building design & construction principles were implemented to achieve 60% less annual energy consumption than a code minimum building of a similar size and type. Join us for a tour and talk by Sean Size, leader of the Threshold Builds team that consulted on the project and implemented the continuous exterior insulation and air sealing systems.

Learning Objectives

• Learn how the building incorporates a high-performance building envelope, glazing systems, and mechanical equipment to achieve significant reductions in energy
• Development of a PHIUS residential building and the positive health benefits of sustainable design
• Identify the PHIUS requirements for a multifamily building on a small urban site that provides safety for the residents and the public.
• Identify building design strategies that were used to create a state-of-the-art facility while accommodating building code and passive house restrictions.
