This project aims to reduce bird deaths caused by window collisions through education, awareness, and bird-safe building practices. The program teaches community members, builders, and property owners how birds perceive glass and why collisions occur. It focuses on sustainable solutions that can be incorporated during construction, such as bird-friendly glass, window films, screens, and other window treatments. Participants will learn about the effectiveness of different prevention methods and factors that increase collision risks, including lighting, landscaping, and building design. The presentation also highlights bird species that are most vulnerable to collisions and explains how prevention strategies differ for migratory and nesting birds. By promoting practical, long-term solutions, the project encourages communities to make buildings safer for birds and reduce preventable wildlife deaths.
