Join us as we tour UW-Madison's Bakke Recreation & Wellbeing Center, an AIA Wisconsin Award winner by Kahler Slater and HOK that showcases high-performance biophilic design and innovative energy recovery systems on the shores of Lake Mendota.

Tour Guides and Presenters: University Recreation & Wellbeing will be conducting the tour, with Kahler Slater providing commentary

Learning Objectives:

• Understand the planning and design strategies used to support health, wellness, and student engagement in a large-scale collegiate recreation facility.
• Examine how stakeholder input and user group engagement informed program development, space planning, and operational outcomes.
• Identify key design challenges and solutions related to integrating recreation, wellbeing, and multi-use spaces within a complex campus environment.
• Evaluate material, systems, and design decisions that contribute to durability, flexibility, and long-term performance in high-traffic recreational facilities.

Parking costs are based on the lot 67 visitor parking rate of:

• $1 per 30 minutes for the first 3 hours
• $1 per hour thereafter
• $15 daytime session maximum
