Join AIA Northeast Wisconsin for a guided tour of Wausau Tile’s 550,000-square-foot manufacturing campus in Rothschild, Wisconsin. Professionals will be taken on a tour of the manufacturing facilities, where they will learn the processes as well as the design aspects of manufacturing precast concrete and precast terrazzo products. Professionals will also learn the green practices in place throughout the campus.

Details:

• Safety glasses and safety vests will be provided by Wausau Tile.
• Closed-toe shoes are required; no open-toe shoes are permitted.
• Lunch is not included as part of the scheduled event.

Learning Objectives:

• Identify the principal manufacturing processes used in the production of concrete pavers, precast concrete, terrazzo tile, precast terrazzo, and metal and concrete site furnishings.
• Explain how material selection, forming, fabrication, and finishing considerations influence the appearance and performance of manufactured architectural products.
• Compare manufacturing methods and design considerations associated with the different concrete, terrazzo, and site-furnishing products produced within the facility.
• Recognize manufacturing capabilities and constraints that architects and designers should consider when specifying precast concrete, terrazzo, concrete paving, and site-furnishing products for architectural projects.
