Join AIA Southwest Wisconsin for a tour of UW-Madison's nearly completed School of Computer, Data, and Information Sciences. Led by Kahler Slater's Peter Sommerfeld, Project Specialist II, and Joe Schultz, CA Specialist, we will learn how the project utilizes sustainability aspects to achieve LEED Platinum, how the building design integrates into the urban surroundings, and how the spaces foster innovation, collaboration, and discovery.

Learning Objectives

• Learn how the building utilizes sustainability in the form of solar panels, water usage, landscaping, and mechanical equipment to achieve LEED Platinum.
• Explore how the project integrated with the nearby urban streetscape to create a welcoming space for the university community, while also ensuring a safe environment.
• Identify how the program was designed to foster innovation, collaboration, and discovery.
• Identify building design strategies that were used to create a state-of-the-art facility while accommodating building code restrictions.
